Finally I work to provide for the students Self-Actualization needs. As I present the information, I try and provide the “Why”. Traditionally factual material is taught to provide for rote memory. I have found it to be more productive for students to learn the “why”. To spark the creative thinking, I ask a lot of thought provoking critical thinking questions and ask the students to approach the answer from different perspectives. To reinforce content, I tell stories from my clinical past and elicit stories from the students to help make for information more meaningful.
